Dorcas Evelene

DorcasA masterful writer, performer and “multiple personality” Evelene captures the entire range of human experience in each of her characters – including an 7-year old girl, a Vietnam veteran and a woman living with a disability.

A native of Brooklyn, NY Dorcas Evelene has been performing since the early age of six months.  Her first modeling opportunity was through catalog.  In later years she continued her love for performance at Bryn Mawr College, where she had the opportunity to direct, produce and act before many audiences.

Upon returning to New York she continued her studies with Susan Batson at Black Nexxus Studios and Michael Beckett at HB Studios.  Her stage work includes “Supposedly” (2005 Fringe Festival); Limericks form an Undisclosed Location, Déjà vu Punk (Larry Meyers Group), The Colored Museum (ER Prod.), The New England Premiere of British Playwright Sonja Linden`s "I HAVE BEFORE ME A REMARKABLE DOUCMENT GIVEN TO ME BY A YOUNG LADY FROM RWANDA" Apirl 5- 22 2007 Stoneham Theater, Winner and Champion of Independent Film of New York Monologue Slam, held November 21, 2009 at the Kumble Theater, Long Island University/Brooklyn Campus and her successful one-woman play, "Unwritten".  Her film credits include Real Overcoming, Cokeheads and Real With Me. She is also the founder of multi-cultural entertainment, theater and educational company, Smiling Down Productions. Through Smiling Down, Dorcas has had the opportunity to bring her passion and love of performance to generations of all ages.
